The entry-level offerings are an absolute delight. I was pleasantly surprised with the 2022 Barbarescos, given the extreme heat and drought of the growing season. The 2021 Barolos are illustrative of the lighter style that has become the norm here. Today, the Barolos are all vinified in wood and see more whole-berry fermentations, with lighter extractions and far fewer pumpovers and punchdowns than in the past. Aging was done entirely in cask. This wine is less immediately aromatic and needs extra time in the glass to develop and flesh out. At this young stage, it delivers tight wild berry and you also get a pretty signature of crushed limestone. That elegant mineral note ties in nicely with the silky tannins. A small number of bottles of a very special Barbaresco! We recommend decanting and serving at a temperature of 18-20°C. This wine achieves its finest expression when paired with red meat, particularly game, and truffles. It is also excellent with fresh-egg pasta dishes with meat sauces, or risotto, not to mention medium-mature cow’s and goat’s milk cheeses.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0706/9273/3194/files/Albesani_01755c74-dea0-433e-abd0-2e1b1be8ba80.png?v=1728249290
massolino-dolcetto-dalba-2024
Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba 2024

Massolino notes: Dolcetto d’Alba DOC Massolino displays a typically Piedmontese DNA.
